As a proud mother and grandmother of six wonderful grandchildren, it saddens me to talk about
bullying.
Most of us have faced bullying at some point in our lives. Inspired by my granddaughter and
grandson, I wrote my second children’s book, Glowing with Confidence. It gently addresses
bullying, and while the story carries a touch of Grammy’s imagination, it is rooted in real life.
My hope is to help parents, grandparents, and all caring adults recognize the signs that a child might be experiencing bullying. Here are a few gentle crumbs and possible signs to notice:
- 1) Fear of going to school or frequent complaints of feeling sick
- 2) Missing or damaged belongings
- 3) Unexplained bruises or injuries
- 4) Drop in grades or unfinished homework
- 5) Sudden changes in behavior such as becoming anxious, withdrawn, or losing confidence
- 6) Changes in sleep or eating habits
- 7) Acting out by bullying others
Together, with love and awareness, we can help our little ones feel safe, heard, and confident in
who they are. By noticing some of these signs early, we can step in with love, understanding, and
guidance to help our children feel safe and strong once again!
