To all our amazing parents, grandparents, guardians, and teachers!

When a child sees someone being bullied, it can feel confusing, sad, or even scary. Sometimes,
it’s hard to know what to say or do, and they might worry about getting bullied, too. But staying
quiet can make the person being bullied feel even more alone.

If a child doesn’t feel safe helping, it’s always okay to find a trusted adult and tell them what
they saw. They can help keep everyone safe. If you see bullying, trust your feelings and
remember there are kind and brave ways to help.

6 Kind and Safe Ways to Help

1) Don’t join in – Even if others are teasing or laughing, choose to be kind instead.
2) Speak up if you feel safe – Say firmly and calmly, “That’s not okay. Please stop.”
3) Support the person being bullied – Stand with them, invite them to join you, or say,
“Let’s go somewhere safe.” Being friends helps them feel better!
4) Find a trusted adult – Tell a teacher, coach, or grown-up right away about what’s
happening.
5) Check on them later. – Ask if they’re okay and remind them they’re not alone.
6) Standing up for others is brave – You don’t have to fight for kindness and asking for help
make a big difference
